The Hutt Valley has a rich sporting heritage, and our people are proud of their many sporting achievements, both as individuals and teams on local, national, and international scales.
Historically, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt have held separate Awards events (the Hutt City Sports Awards and the Upper Hutt Sports Awards, respectively). In 2016 the decision was made to create a new, combined event covering both Upper and Lower Hutt.
The inaugural Hutt Valley Sports Awards were held on Thursday 19 May 2016, and were a spectacular evening of entertainment, food, drink, and of course, celebration of our region's greatest sporting achievements.
The new Hutt Valley Sports Awards are now an annual fixture, with awards ceremonies being held in May each year.

Hutt City Sports AwardsAfter a gap between 1988 and 2011, the Hutt City Sports Awards were resurrected for five great events from 2011-2015 before combining with the Upper Hutt Sports Awards.

Upper Hutt Sports AwardsLast held in 2013 (nominations were called for in 2015, but a lack of entries led to cancellation of the event), the Upper Hutt Sports Awards were long supported by the Rimutaka Lions Club who provided a stellar effort in recognising worthy Upper Hutt athletes, officials and administrators.
